Artist Projects Emoluments Clause on Trump's DC Hotel: 'Pay Trump Bribes Here'

Emoluments Clause projected onto Trump's DC hotel

"The rules and the lines are being pushed so far and this seemed to be so clear to me".

Coming from multimedia artist Robin Bell, who has done similar political guerrilla art installations with his company Bell Visuals, these projections seek to redirect attention to the constitutional clause barring individuals holding government office from accepting monetary payments (AKA emoluments) from foreign government entities.

Hotel security ordered him to shut off the projections after only a few minutes, but it was enough time for the messages to go viral on social media, garnering thousands of posts on Twitter and Facebook. "A tour bus pulled up, people started clapping and taking photos".

This wasn't Bell's first light assault on the local Trump International: back in November, shortly after the election, he projected "Experts Agree: Trump Is a Pig" on the hotel's fa├žade during an action focused on the EPA, City Lab reported.

"That is one of the big things that I'm trying to do - using our artwork to explain these stories that are tricky" said Bell, an artist and filmmaker based in the District.

While the projections were met with praise by some, supporters of the president maintain there is no proof or evidence of collusion between Trump and Russian Federation. "He said so much that they could figure it out".

"The timing was awesome because it gave us something to look at and enjoy", Bell said. "We're going to keep going".

McKayla Maroney sends viewers wild with sexy Instagram video
The 21-year-old gymnast has been showing off her curvy body in a series of photos and videos on Instagram recently. It also isn't the first time she has come under fire posting something controversial.

Critics of the president also joked over reports in USA media on the said Trump-Russia collusion.

While Trump retains an ownership stake, his son has taken over day-to-day operations of the hotel.

Trump signed the lease in 2014, redeveloping the signature Pennsylvania Avenue property into a luxury hotel.

From a van parked across the street, he also projected the entirety of the Emoluments Clause of the U.S. Constitution, which prohibits U.S. officials from accepting foreign gifts. "Emoluments Welcome", said another, referring to the clause in the USA constitution that bars members of the government from receiving gifts from foreign powers.

He also traveled to Harrisburg, Pa., in April to project protest messages against the president as he delivered a speech marking his 100th day in office.

"There will be a lot more projections to come", he said.
