Ex-US NSA ordered to hand over Russia probe documents

Kathleen Parker

The Senate Intelligence Committee announced late Wednesday that it sent a subpoena to former national security adviser Michael Flynn for information about communications with Russian officials that might be relevant to the panel's investigation into Russia's interference with the 2016 election.

Former Trump adviser Roger Stone he will "fully comply" with the Senate intelligence committee's request for information and documents relating to its Russian Federation investigation.

McCabe further said Comey had "broad support" within the bureau, a comment that stands at stark odds with a White House defense of Trump's decision, namely that Comey "lost the confidence" of the bureau's rank and file.

"This aggressiveness was evident in Russia's efforts to influence the 2016 U.S. election, and we assess that only Russia's senior-most officials could have authorized the 2016 USA election-focused data thefts and disclosures, based on the scope and sensitivity of the targets".

Former acting US attorney general Sally Yates testifies on May 8, 2017 before the US Senate Judiciary Committee on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC.

Flynn was sacked by Trump in February after published reports that the national security adviser had misled Vice President Pence about his discussions with the Russian ambassador to the United States.

Dismal Hull condemned to relegation
Currently, Crystal Palace is in the 16th position and Hull City is in the 18th position in the Premier League points table. Here, Press Association Sport looks at five things we learned in the Premier League this weekend.

The move also comes on the heels of Trump's abrupt decision to fire FBI director James Comey, who was leading the federal government's inquiry into Russian Federation.

Some of Mr Trump's fellow Republicans, including Mr Burr, also expressed strong doubts about the timing of the President's actions.

"I think Mike Flynn is somebody who honorably served our country in uniform for over 30 years", White House press secretary Sean Spicer told reporters this week.

The Washington Post reports that 30 sources, connected with The White House, have told them that James Comey was sacked over the Russian Federation investigation, not the Hillary Clinton investigation. "It hasn't recovered from that", Trump had said of Comey in an NBC interview.

"I think all options are on the table, and I think you can envision what those options are", Burr told reporters on Tuesday, a day ahead of the announcement.

Either way, Republicans and Democrats vowed the House and Senate Intelligence Committees' investigations into the Russian Federation claims would continue.
