Nintendo Switch sales are off to a very strong start

Over 2.76 million copies of The Legend of Zelda: Breadth of the Wild were sold for the new console, more than the sales of the Nintendo Switch. And Nintendo expects to sell about 35 million Switch games, overall, in the coming fiscal year.

In an earnings report released earlier today, Nintendo confirmed that the Pokemon franchise helped boost their 2016 revenue and profits. These numbers suggest that Breath of the Wild and the Switch sold nearly 1:1, which would make it the most successful launch game ever outside of bundled titles such as Wii Sports. Hardware sales saw 760,000 units sold worldwide, a 77 percent decrease year-on-year, and software hit 14.8 million copies, a 46 percent decrease year-on-year. It had an excellent start compared to Nintendo's projections, as the company originally wanted to sell 2 million units throughout the month of March. That's strong for game that has been out for a month. As it turns out, Pokemon still prints money all these years later, with Sun and Moon selling an fantastic 15.44 million units since launching in November. Shovel Knight: Specter of Torment, Snipperclips, and FAST RMX were Switch exclusives that made the console feel like more than a "Zelda Machine" in its first few weeks.

So it seems that the Nintendo 3DS, as of now, is far from dead.

It is promising Switch games that include "Mario Kart 8 Deluxe", which goes on sale in April, "ARMS", in June and "Splatoon 2" in July.

One enterprising fan game offers a solution, however short-lived.

Body of missing Joliet toddler found in mother's home
Semaj was last seen wearing a gray, long-sleeve shirt with a cat face; and blue jeans, according to the sheriff's office. Ackerson said nothing investigators had learned indicates that the girl did not wander off on her own.

Of course, nothing is guaranteed: Wii U has crashed and burned after a strong start, selling over 3 million units in its first 6 weeks in the market in 2013.

In the video below (also embedded at the top of this article), YouTuber Nintendrew chose to leapfrog past Nintendo's R&D team and use some workaround solutions to see what the screen looks like inside of a VR device. Adding in the Wii U version, the game sold more than 3.84 million copies.

If Nintendo wants us to really buy into this all-purpose gaming device that is the Nintendo Switch, then it needs to be their primary device by a wide degree, if not their only one. It's a massively popular series for Nintendo, and this remake of the 2014 Wii U game has earned lots of praise for its many improvements.

David and Tom just revealed what they believe are the 10 best stocks for investors to buy right now. and Nintendo wasn't one of them! Remember Meme Run? If you don't, good, but it's the flawless example of just how easy it was for anyone with a devkit (which wasn't hard to obtain) to get their game out to the Nintendo userbase.
