Sony Cuts Ties with Dr. Luke

Sony Music is in the midst of negotiating a split with Dr Luke after years of controversy following Kesha's rape allegation against him, a source told the Hollywood Reporter.

Neither the lawyers of Dr. Luke and Sony Music have made any official comments regarding the recent termination of Gottwald's relationship with Sony.

What is over, however, is Dr. Luke's role as CEO of the label Kemosabe Records, the label he founded which came under the Sony umbrella in 2011 and expired at the end of March 2017.

It looks like Dr. Luke and Sony Music are no longer a musical power couple.

The 43-year-old producer is no longer the CEO of Kemosabe Records and has no authority to act on its behalf, according to THR. "Certainly, the culmination of Dr. Luke's deal with Sony will be spotlighted as the case moves forward". "Can't get into details but they do have continuing relationship involving Kemosabe". It sounds like Dr. Luke is still the only one who can break that contract with her.

Kesha filed claims in 2014 that Gottwald had coerced her into taking drugs and then raped her. He also claimed that she threatened to release damaging information about the producer to a pro-Kesha blogger.

Who knew Trump would go after Canada?
However, US lumber companies are satisfied with the decision, following Trump's pledge to put America first. If confirmed, the tariffs would then have to be approved by the US International Trade Commission (USITC).

Dr. Luke has denied Kesha's allegations.

While on the surface this might seem like a good thing for Kesha, her attorneys have suggested otherwise.

However, Dr. Luke claimed it was Kesha who owed him $1.3 million in unpaid royalties, and failed to provide notice and a 30-day cure period. Some fans anxious that the singer would become an outcast in the music industry or go bankrupt trying to fight for a release from her contract.

While the news appears to be a positive for Kesha, the pop star's legal team has said that it might be more hard for her to get out of the contract with Dr. Luke, if Sony distances its relationship with him entirely.

However, a New York Supreme Court Justice denied the star's request. In September of past year, he sued Kesha's mother, Rosemary Patricia Sebert, for defamation.

In June 2015, a judge put Kesha's California case on hold after ruling that the NY case took precedent. Are you excited for her new album?
