'Hoosiers' filmmakers criticize Mike Pence, whose favorite movie is 'Hoosiers'

In South Korea and Japan, Pence played down protectionist declarations of "America first" and reaffirmed USA treaty commitments to the security of the two countries as tensions rise over Pyongyang's nuclear program.

Dougal Robinson, a research fellow with the United States Studies Centre in Sydney, said the timing of Pence's visit to Australia — a mere three months into Trump's presidency — is significant.

"He is a sane, measured person, and lacks the flamboyance of Trump", the official said. Southeast Asia's largest economy is one of 16 nations now under review for having a trade surplus with the US.

But Pence foreshadowed some reworking of the commercial and economic relationship saying that US exporters should face a level playing field.

Indonesia's military said on Friday it was reporting an online news site to the police after it wrote about an Intercept story alleging current and retired generals plotted to overthrow President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo.

"I bring greetings this morning from the President of the United States", Pence told Turnbull and other Australian officials ahead of their meeting.

The visit was also a chance to get more clarity about the economic dimension of the U.S. -Indonesia relationship.

And it's now claimed that Everton would allow Lukaku to join Old Trafford in order to get stop Chelsea from getting their man. Last summer, Everton scoring sensation Romelu Lukaku had been heavily linked with a move to Chelsea, but it didn't happen.

Pence made the commitment - subject to the refugees passing stringent USA vetting procedures - at a joint news conference in Sydney with Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull, with whom Trump reportedly had a testy first call because of the refugee issue.

Industry Minister Arthur Sinodinos, Trade Minister Steven Ciobo and Australia's Ambassador to the US Joe Hockey were also at the brainstorming session at Sydney's Intercontinental Hotel.

After taking office, Trump was infuriated upon learning that the previous Obama administration had agreed to a refugee resettlement deal with Australia.

US Vice-President Mike Pence has pledged to strengthen security ties with Indonesia to ensure freedom of navigation in the South China Sea and to fight terrorism.

In a tweet posted February 2, Trump made his feelings about the agreement quite clear, saying: "Do you believe it?"

The fallout has left relations between the USA and Australia at their lowest point since the Vietnam War, when Australia's then-Prime Minister Gough Whitlam criticized a series of bombings authorized by then-President Richard Nixon.

At the mosque in Jakarta, Pence and his family also toured the cavernous main prayer room - which was empty during his visit but fills up with tens of thousands of worshippers during key dates in the Muslim calender - and admired the towering dome.
