Tesla Motors Recalls 53000 Vehicles Due To Faulty Parking Brakes

It is a small gear that the company outsourced from a third-party Brembo.

The Tesla supercharger is the US -based electric vehicle maker's high-speed device that can charge more than 50 percent of its Model S 90D's battery in 20 minutes.

Electric auto maker Tesla (TSLA) is voluntarily recalling 53,000 Model S and X vehicles after recently discovering "manufacturing issues" related to its electric parking brakes.

An official recall notice will be sent to the customers by company with the information on how they could replace the parking brakes.

Tesla has issued a voluntarily recall for roughly 53,000 of its Model S and Model X electric cars to address an issue in which the parking brake might stick in the engaged position.

Spurs aiming to heap more pressure on Chelsea, says Kane
Manchester United's Zlatan Ibrahimovic in action with Chelsea's Gary Cahill during their Premier League match at the Old Trafford, April 16, 2017.

Tesla said repairs can begin immediately and it will have enough parts for all affected vehicles by October. If the gear broke, the parking brake would be stuck in place and might fail to stop the vehicle. These vehicles include both the Model S and Model X. Thursday's announcement of 53,000 vehicles is the automaker's second-largest recall to date.

Tesla said less than 5% of the vehicles being recalled may be affected and it would take less than 45 minutes to replace the brakes.

Jonathan McNeill, president of global sales and service at Tesla Motors, told Maeil Business Newspaper in an interview on Wednesday that the company will install total 14 fast-charging stations, dubbed Supercharger, within this year, including five to six in Seoul and three on expressways for long-distance travelers. Tesla, in the past, has also recalled 2,700 Model X units due to the problems in third-row seats. A spokeswoman from the supplier told AFR in an email that it is now working with Tesla to resolve the issue. Though investors reacted negative to the recall and lawsuit issue, they have settled down to see the stock reversing the trend on Friday's pre-market trading.

Following the announcement, Tesla fell by 1.7 percent in NY trading on Thursday.
