Bhubaneswar/Lucknow: Triple Talaq took center stage at the National Executive of the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) in Bhubaneswar and All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) in Lucknow on Sunday with both looking determined to counter the menace - but using their own ways.
The court will hear pleas filed by several Muslim women challenging the practice under which men can divorce their wives instantly by uttering the word "talaq" thrice.
The board is issuing appeals to all maulanas and imams to read out the code of conduct during Friday namaz and emphasise on its implementation, he said.
The Board's Muslim Wing Head Dr Asma Zehra alleged that Muslim women have full faith in personal laws and the issue is hyped by some section of media.
The AIMPLB yesterday said that it had chose to issue a code of conduct for triple talaq.
The Union government had on 7 October previous year opposed in the Supreme Court the practice of triple talaq, nikah halala and polygamy among Muslims and favoured a re-look on grounds like gender equality and secularism.
Kalbe Sadiq, vice-president of the AIMPLB, had acknowledged that triple talaq was unfair to women.
