'Taking all measures to gain consular access to Jadhav'

Amid tensions over death sentence being awarded to Indian national Kulbhushan Jadhav, India has called off maritime security dialogue with Pakistan, which scheduled for early next week.

Jadhav was tried for alleged espionage and sabotage by a Field General Court Martial and handed the death sentence for his involvement in various anti-state activities.

According to sources, Bambawale is expected to raise the issue of consular access to Jadhav as Pakistan has rejected 13 of India's requests for the same in the last one year.

The arrested men crossed the Line of Control several times to attend meetings with the Indian Army and RAW officers regarding potential targets, police said. they are also accused of a bomb blast in Abbaspur past year.

India says Mr Jadhav travelled to Tehran for business and was abducted. Jadhav can appeal the death sentence to Pakistan's Supreme Court within 60 days.

That's a change from the current rule, which doesn't permit official visits until September 1 of the recruit's senior year. Next, the Collegiate Commissioners Association would have to approve the early signing period when they meet in June.

This is the latest flashpoint in the long and embittered saga of India-Pakistan ties.

India on Friday chose to call off the upcoming maritime security dialogue with Pakistan, as tension between the two continues to grow over the death sentence Islamabad handed out to formal Indian Navy officer Kulbhushan Jadhav.

According to the Indian Foreign Ministry, Jadhav was kidnapped in 2016 from Iran while his subsequent detention had never been "explained credibly" by the Pakistani side. "So, my first demand was to provide us the details of the charge-sheet and copy of the verdict", he said.

On reports of Jadhav carrying a fake identity or original Indian passport, Baglay said, "We can not ascertain anything since we did not have any consular access". It has also informed Pakistan that it will appeal the order after analysing the Pakistan Army Act, sources said. He said Jadhav, who was involved in an attack on a radar station, was instrumental in an explosion in Quetta which resulted in casualties. External affairs minister Sushma Swaraj had warned that Jadhav's execution will be taken by India as a "pre-meditated murder" and Pakistan should "consider its consequences" on bilateral relations, if it proceeds on this matter.
