Police fire Georgia officers recorded assaulting man

Officer Fired After Video Shows Him Kicking Handcuffed Suspect In The Face Guest Post

A Georgia police officer was sacked Thursday, less than 24 hours after authorities say he kicked a handcuffed man in the head.

Twenty-one-year-old Demetrius Hollins was pulled aside at a traffic stop by the two former officers allegedly in regards to violations he was committing, but then resisted arrest when the men tried to take him into custody, this being Bongiavonni's side of the story.

Days after two officers in suburban Atlanta were fired when videos surfaced showing them kicking and punching a motorist, authorities have reportedly dismissed almost 90 cases involving the pair.

Demetrius Hollins had been stopped by police in the Lawrenceville area when he was stomped in the head by an officer.

The officer stated that the auto seemed like it was stalling, and he exited the police vehicle to talk to the driver, and smelled the scent of marijuana.

"He has been a very effective police officer throughout his career", Ayers said. "We are fortunate that this second video was found and we were able to move swiftly to terminate the supervisor who lied and stepped outside his training and state law". The department says both men are now under criminal investigation.

"When police officers betray the public's trust and confidence, justice demands that all those cases that depend on their credibility be dismissed without delay", said a statement from Szabo's office. The results will be turned over to the county district attorney, who will decide whether to prosecute the two officers. A struggle ensues before officers search the man's pockets.

5 things to know about April the giraffe and her calf
The latest craze featured April the Giraffe , an online sensation whose pregnancy has been a story of public interest for months. Although the official stats aren't in yet, April's calf likely stands about 6 feet tall and weighs between 100 and 150 pounds.

Hollins initially faced several charges including driving with a suspended or revoked license, failure to signal, obstruction law enforcement officer and less than an ounce of marijuana.

The veteran policeman then called called for back up and a response call was answered by McDonald, who preceded to kick Hollins while he was handcuffed on the ground. "It's because American police officers have ZERO regard for black lives, they beat us, shoot and kill us without a blink of an eye and the biggest problem is, it all goes UNCHALLENGED".

The second video did not surface until after McDonald was terminated, leading to Bongiovanni's termination. In his report, Bongiovanni wrote that Hollins' vehicle didn't have a license plate and that the driver had switched lanes multiple times without signaling. After the officer appears to handcuff him and step away, another officer comes running up to the scene.

At that same news conference, Ayers commended Bongiovanni for following protocol and reporting the stomping incident by McDonald to his shift commander.

But even while some officers are held accountable for excessive use of force, it's unclear how pervasive the unlawful use of force is among USA police departments. A working phone number couldn't immediately be located for him, and it wasn't clear whether he has an attorney who could comment. He was released on bond Thursday afternoon. When he got out to talk to the driver, the officer claimed he could smell marijuana.

"He start (ed) shoving me in my auto and telling me that I was never going to have a video, that I was never going to make the phone call to my mom", he said in the television interview.
