Jamaican centenarian now oldest person in the world

Emma Morano, 117, of Italy died Saturday afternoon, AFP and the Associated Press reported. "And cookies. But I do not eat much because I have no teeth", she said in her home at the time, where the Guinness World Records certificate declaring her to be the oldest person alive held pride of place on a marble-topped chest of drawers.

Her Eyesight did become very poor and she latterly spent much of her days sleeping.

Italy was under a monarchy when Emma was young, yet she managed to see the monarchy fall in favor of a republic that produced nearly seventy governments during her life. "We will always remember the strength (she possessed) for moving forward, her combative attitude against adversity", said Verbania Mayor Silvia Marchionini. Morano, who lived in northern Italy, was born on November 29, 1899, four years before the Wright brothers first took to the air.

Morano outlived all her eight brothers and sisters, including one who died at 102.

She ate a raw egg every day and credited her longevity to her diet, she told Italian newspaper La Stampa.

Brown was born March 10, 1900 and is believed to be one of the two remaining persons who were born in the 19th century. "For lunch I'll eat pasta and minced meat then for dinner, I'll have just a glass of milk". "I was 26 years old". She retired at 75, more than 40 years ago.

Ozil is back after Champions League exit, says Wenger
However it does appear as though Michail Antonio is back in contention to play some part in North London . West Ham manager Slaven Bilic said of the Swansea clash: "We need that win".

"'Either you agree to marry me or I will kill you'", Ms Morano said, recalling his proposal.

Morano's genetics likely played a big factor in the longevity of her life.

"I didn't want to be dominated by anyone", Morano told the New York Times when she was 115. Giovanni separated from Emma in 1938 when she drove him from their home.

"Her niece and I leave some biscuits and chocolates out at night in the kitchen". Then she worked at a hotel, working way beyond the usual retirement age.

But it was also down to a rather unusual diet of three eggs - two raw - each day for more than 90 years.

The next oldest recorded living person, who now takes over the title as the oldest person in the world, is Violet Brown, a Jamaican woman.
