McConnell reaches out to Romney about possible Senate bid

In A Hilarious Twist Mitt Romney Wants To Run For Senate To Troll Donald Trump

Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, has told the National Journal he might be step aside if Mitt Romney chose to run for his seat in the U.S. Senate. Orrin G. Hatch does not seek an eighth term. "Mitt Romney would be flawless". Obviously I am an Orrin Hatch supporter. Orrin Hatch has to decide what he wants to do.

McConnell says he would support Hatch if he wants to run again.

Romney, who lost to President Barack Obama in the 2012 election, was an outspoken critic of President Donald Trump throughout the 2016 campaign, but he drew criticism when he courted the secretary of state position after the election.

Romney, according to reporting from the Atlantic, is thinking about running for the U.S. Senate in 2018.

Romney, 70, reportedly has the backing of Utah Republican leaders and donors who will urge Hatch to retire his seat in 2018, although Romney has signaled he would not do this without the 83-year-old Hatch's blessing. "If I could get a really outstanding person to run for my position, I might very well consider [retiring]", Hatch told National Journal.

He even added, 'Mitt Romney would be ideal'.

Hatch released a statement to FOX 13 saying in part: "while I have taken steps to run, I have yet to make a final decision".

NY misses budget deadline as negotiations carry into April
Without hard numbers on school aid, districts may start putting austerity budgets together, just in case, he said. But we believe it's crucial - and we think you agree.

Asked on Friday if he had spoken to Romney about a potential Senate run, Hatch said, "Oh yeah".

He added that the 'overhyped intrigue. doesn't reflect the reality of the situation, especially this soon after the last election'.

Some Romney pals suggest the former MA governor is bored in retirement.

"I wouldn't want that to happen again", Hatch said.

"You have to think Jon Huntsman is looking at it".

And then there's the fact that if Romney ran, it would be a cake walk.
