Malcolm Butler has reportedly 'warmed up' to idea of playing for Saints

Patriots send first-, third-round picks to Saints for Brandin Cooks

In some of his first comments since the New Orleans Saints traded him to the New England Patriots last week, wide receiver Brandin Cooks said Wednesday that he didn't orchestrate the deal. With a couple of free agency signings and the re-signings of a few of their own players, the Saints aren't sitting quietly by and letting other teams advance.

As reported by ESPN, the 26-year-old linebacker is coming off of another good season, and he has totaled 13.5 sacks in the last three years.

Speaking to New England reporters on a conference call Wednesday, Cooks clarified that he did not request a trade from New Orleans.

Now a restricted free agent, the Patriots' cornerback is able to sign an offer sheet from another team. If he does not, then Butler leaves and the Patritos are compensated with his new team's first round draft pick.

Suspected East Baton Rouge officer killer identified
In June 2010, Anderson received an award for saving the life of a woman who threatened to jump off a bridge, The Advocate reports. He served in various divisions including Parish Prison, Narcotics, K-9, Emergency Services Unit, Maritime Response Team and SWAT.

It would have been hard to imagine as the confetti fell in Houston just over a month ago that Malcolm Butler would be on the verge of being out of New England just six weeks later, barely removed from winning his second championship as a member of the Patriots.

Eric Edholm of Yahoo Sports is reporting on Tuesday that the Texans are willing to part with their second round pick in this year's draft (57th overall) if Butler is inked to a long-term deal. In the most recent edition, Cooks drew a lot of attention during his one-on-one battles with Patriots cornerback Malcolm Butler. "I love the organization and the people". I think it's a win-win situation and like I said, the rumors out there and what's been going on and what's been (said), I don't let it bother me.

"As a young guy, there were some things I'd like to have did more; not like I wasn't able to do them, we just had great guys doing those other things, so if it's not broke, why fix it?" I don't have to be the superstar. Cooks said he's excited about catching passes from Brady.

Alex Okafor is a great pick-up for the New Orleans Saints in the second week of National Football League free agency, but there is still more work to be done. The Saints are still the favorites to land Butler. So far, the team is addressing its needs even if some moves have been questionable, but they want to have a much better year in 2017 and are working hard for it now.
