Michael Flynn received almost $34000 to attend event with Putin

Former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn was paid more than $30,000 from a state-run Russian TV network for a Moscow talk, according to documents.

"He's been treated very, very unfairly by the media - as I call it, the fake media, in many cases", Trump said Feb 15.in a joint news conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Washington.

Last week, Flynn filed lobbying disclosure forms revealing that he was paid more than $500,000 a year ago to lobby on behalf of the Turkish government in its effort to discredit the exiled cleric Fethullah G├╝len. Flynn was paid $45,386 ($33,750 after "an agency commission) according to new documents obtained by a congressional oversight committee". Other documents released show Flynn was paid $11,250 by a Russian airline. It stemmed from statements about whether the pair talked about sanctions brought by the Obama administration in response to alleged Russian meddling in the 2016 US election.

Flynn was sacked last month as Trump's national security adviser after misleading Vice President Mike Pence about his communications with the Russian ambassador during the presidential transition.

Flynn last week filed paperwork retroactively notifying the Justice Department that he had done work that may have benefitted the government of Turkey.

Flynn, who was receiving classified briefings as part of the campaign, published a controversial op-ed shortly after Trump's election calling for better U.S. -Turkey relations.

Trump budget calls for border wall, border prosecutions
That includes a 28% reduction in funding for the State Department and eliminating the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. Still, the fiscal 2018 blueprint will outline Trump's priorities by proposing funding levels for federal agencies.

In an email exchange between RT and the speakers bureau that the House committee acquired and was reviewed by CNN, a representative from RT said that the initial asking price for Flynn's appearance as "a bit too high" and asked the company to reduce the fee. Its founder, Eugene Kaspersky, denies that it has stocked the firm with those with close ties to Russian intelligence.

RT, the Kremlin-controlled television network, paid $45,386 to Flynn Intel Group, Flynn's consulting firm, for his appearance at an event held on December 10, 2015, invoices reveal.

In a new letter today, Cummings charged that Flynn had "violated the Constitution" by accepting such payments from "an agent of a global adversary that attacked our democracy", an apparent reference to USA intelligence agencies' assessment that Russian government-directed hackers had pilfered emails of the Democratic National Committee and Secretary Hillary Clinton's campaign manager John Podesta. The payments include previously reported disbursements from the Kremlin-backed RT network, as well as from two separate Russian companies, and are likely to renew questions about the Trump campaign's friendliness toward Russia.

Cummings accused Trump and his advisers of showing unprecedented disinterest "in the truth" of Flynn's work on behalf of foreign clients - "whether due to willful ignorance or knowing indifference".

"I am writing to request information about whether Gen. Flynn fully disclosed- as part of the security clearance and vetting process for his return to government- his communications with Russian agents, Turkish agents and other foreign agents, as well as his payments from foreign sources", Cummings wrote.
